Products

Currently Australian Omega Oils produces two products:

  1. High grade Omega 3 Calamari oil
  2. High grade marine fertiliser

Besides the high levels of concentrated Omega 3 in Calamari oil it is important to note that the raw material used to make Calamari oil is sustainable. The same cannot be said for other Omega 3 oils such as Krill Oil. Krill is a critical link in the marine food chain and cannot be over fished without significant consequences to the current precarious nature of the world’s marine eco-system. The calamari sourced by Australian Omega Oils are not trawled or netted in the Southern Oceans of Australia. They are harvested via ‘single method jigging’.  A 2012 Australian Government Fishery Status Report classified the Calamari stock as “not subject to overfishing.

The marine fertiliser produced by Australian Omega Oils is the protein left behind after the oil is extracted from the raw material.  It is an organic product with comparable levels of nitrogen when compared to other marine fertilisers in the marketplace today.

A second fertiliser product is currently being developed that is a blend of calamari protein and liquid seaweed. The liquid seaweed product is produced by Organic Technology Commercialisation (OTC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Organic Technology Holdings, based in Williamstown, Victoria.

Future products

In 2015 Australian Omega oils wants to explore the commercial opportunity to produce additional Omega 3 oils such as squalene for both domestic use and for international markets. Likewise Australian Omega Oils will develop and produce new agricultural products from different raw material types.
